With the success of MTV’s 16 and Pregnant, Teen Mom 2, and Teen Mom OG, comes Teen Mom: Young + Pregnant. A new batch of girls are having babies as teenagers. Some are optimistic about their future, some are not. Of the five girls — Ashley, Brianna, Jade, Kayla, and Lexi — Kayla might be the most realistic. Kayla is 18 and she says she “definitely would not recommend” for any 18 year old to have a baby. “Don’t do it, you’re not ready.” The father of her baby, Stephan, admits “I made a mistake.” He cheated on her. And Kayla knows that if she wasn’t pregnant, he wouldn’t be around. But he is – and at Kayla’s family house.
In the scene below, Stephan hears Kayla’s mother Jaime talking about him. Stephan approaches Jaime and says if she has something to say she should “come to me” not Kayla. Jaime tries to lay down the law (in her house) by saying, “You are not allowed to be here unless I am home.” Stephan says no repeatedly, defiantly, and yells, “Your existence does not mean s—t to me.” Jaime turns to Kayla and asks, “This is how you want someone to treat your mother?” Stephan keeps yelling at Jaime and throws insults like, “Some mom you is.” They keep at it and Stephan gets in her face and claps his hands. Kayla yells, ‘Stephan, you’re making it worse.” Kayla says they’ve been together since they were 15 and “you were not doing any of this stuff. You were a lot more mature when we were younger than you are now. You went the opposite way.” When Jaime tells Stephan, “I feel so sorry for you and I feel sorry for Isaiah at this point,” Stephan loses it. He dares Jaime to say it again and gets way too close to her face. Teen Mom: Young + Pregnant airs Mondays at 8pm on MTV.
