On the Season 3 premiere of Little Big Shots, TV host Steve Harvey welcomes a handful of talented kids on the stage. A 9-year-old from Germany named Felix demonstrates his gift for creating bubbles. And a 4-year-old singer named Sophie belts out Sinatra’s “My Way.” They’re both cute and fun performances. But the one act the audience will never forget is 12-year-old gospel singer Miles Caton. He’s been performing in church ever since someone put a microphone in his hands. You might think Little Big Shots is Miles’ big break, but it isn’t. He got that last year when Jay-Z featured Miles in his music video — or 8-minute short film — ‘4:44’ which is also the title of Jay-Z’s latest album. (See film below.)
That’s Miles in the very beginning singing the beginning of the song ‘Feeling Good’, made popular by Nina Simone. Most recently, Alicia Keys sang the song with Kelly Clarkson on Season 14 of The Voice. It was originally performed in the British play The Roar of the Greasepaint – The Smell of the Crowd in 1964. The role of “The Negro” (portrayed by African-American Gilbert Price) sang the song. Little Big Shots airs Sundays at 7pm and 8pm on NBC.
