Steve Harvey is back with the third season of Little Big Shots. For the season premiere, Sophie Fatu from Charleston, an adorable 4-year-old girl with blonde curls and green eyes, belts out the song “My Way” which Frank Sinatra made famous in 1969. Paul Anka wrote the lyrics set to the music of the French song “Comme d’habitude” (translated “As Usual”). Anka wrote the new lyrics specifically for Sinatra. Anka said: “I used words I would never use: ‘I ate it up and spit it out.’ But that’s the way he (Sinatra) talked.”
[The Sex Pistols’ Sid Vicious covered My Way too]
Although “My Way” became Sinatra’s signature song, according to his daughter Tina her father grew to hate the song. One year after his death (he died in 1998 at the age of 82), Tina Sinatra told the BBC: “He didn’t like it. That song stuck and he couldn’t get it off his shoe. He always thought that song was self-serving and self-indulgent.” Little Big Shots airs Sundays at 7pm and 8pm on NBC.
