Valerie Ponzio of El Paso, Texas is competing on Season 12 of The Voice. For her Blind Audition, she sang the famous Johnny Cash song “Ring of Fire” and made it her own. Wearing a memorable yellow dress, Valerie gets all four coaches to turn their chairs. The 32-year old self-described “lovely Latina singer” is showered with compliments first from Adam Levine who says he’s hears a little of every coach in her performance. He tells Valerie, “You are the most well-rounded singer for this particular panel of judges that I’ve ever heard.”
Before Gwen Stefani can say anything Valerie tells her “I idolized you growing up…I was so obsessed with you, I thought you were so amazing.” Gwen replies, “That’s so crazy because I’m obsessed with you now.” Gwen then walks up on stage and gives Valerie a kiss – or as Valerie calls it a #Gwiss. During the week of March 13, The Voice airs Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday at 8pm on NBC.
