In the West Texas Investors Club episode ‘Tree Amigos,’ a Swedish woman named Valeria pitches her exercise equipment company, Bungypump Poles. They’re walking poles with built-in resistance. Rooster McConaughey believes the 65-and-older demographic is perfect for the product so he puts Valeria’s product to the test – the mom test. McConaughey introduces Valeria to his 83-year-old mother Kay — who doesn’t look old enough to be Rooster’s mother! — and who leads a walking group every Thursday. “You’re gonna get an honest opinion out of my mom,” Rooster laughs, “whether you want it or not.”
Kay McConaughey was born Mary Kathleen and known as “Kay” or “KMac” (née McCabe). The former kindergarten teacher is originally from Trenton, New Jersey. She married Rooster’s (and his brother actor Matthew McConaughey‘s) late father Jim McConaughey three times (they divorced each other twice) “without any of the children finding out about it until their father died of a heart attack in 1992.” Kay is currently dating a man named CJ, who also appears on the episode of West Texas Investors Club which airs Tuesdays at 10pm on CNBC.
