On the Spartan: Ultimate Team Challenge episode “The Comeback”, a 57-year-old fire fighter named Robert “Shirtless Bob” Borer competes with a team Cornhuskers. Shirtless Bob says his physique is “all natural, no hormones, no performance enhancement substances whatsoever, just good nutrition and exercise.”
Fun facts about Bob: He is the father of six “wonderful, brilliant, hardworking” kids. The pinnacle of his firefighting career was ascending 1180 feet up a 1500 foot TV tower with an “attempt to rescue.” For that attempt, he and his team were awarded the highest civilian award for valor, the Congressional Public Safety Officer Medal of Valor. It was presented to him by former VP Dick Cheney. Spartan: Ultimate Team Challenge airs Thursdays at 9pm on NBC.
