“I know the difference between blessings and worldly possessions,” Chance the Rapper testified on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, definitely separating himself from the hip-hop crowd. This soulful MC’s new mixtape drops on May 13, and his sweet blend and unique style is putting Chance the Rapper in a category all his own ahead of his third big album. The Fallon performance felt like a river, a deep one, and at the same time like it wanted to get out of its own way. Like it wanted to just be. Chance delivered “Blessings” like he was doing the audience a service — service he’d been compelled to do by a higher authority.
The Chicago artist chose National Prayer Day, too, to give “Blessings” to a national audience on the most music-friendly of the late night platforms. See below:
