Last week we reported that DC’s upcoming supervillain movie Suicide Squad is reshooting scenes because Warner Bros. wants more humor in the film following the disastrous reviews that the dour Batman v Superman received. But actor Jai Courtney, who plays Captain Boomerang, says that the film is already funny enough and the extra shooting is for action scenes.
The actor and occasional Tom Hardy impersonator tells Entertainment Tonight that “there’s some additional action stuff that we’ve been doing, which is pretty dope.” Some, though, aren’t buying that line. Collider points out that “the initial Suicide Squad sizzle reel seen at Comic-Con, aka before audiences expressed concerns about the tone of BvS trailers, was noticeably more somber … Even if the reshoots are aimed at levity, it’s unlikely that the studio would want to admit that they miscalculated the foundation of such a massive franchise, so Courtney may have been prepped with a soundbite or two before hitting the press.”
