The Dateline NBC episode “The Client” investigates the disappearance of Little Rock real estate agent Beverly Carter in September 2014. The 49-year-old disappeared after showing a home in the small town of Scott, Arkansas. Days later, person of interest Arron Lewis got into a traffic accident. When taken to the hospital, Lewis fled. Police eventually arrested Lewis and charged him with kidnapping.
Lewis was found guilty of murdering Carter by luring her to the fake house showing, and placing a duct tape “death mask” over her face to suffocate her. Lewis and his estranged wife, Crystal Lowery, tossed Carter’s body in a shallow grave at a concrete plant where Lewis previously worked. During his trial, Lewis said Carter’s death was a result of a consensual sex meeting that went wrong. Lowery testified that there was no consensual sex and that the murder was planned. Sentenced in January 2016, Lewis is serving life in prison, Lowery is serving a 30-year sentence. Dateline NBC will air its investigative report on April 17 at 10pm.
