Many try but few hit on the perfect comedy formula. Mike Clattenburg, director and creator of Trailer Park Boys, didn’t just hit it — he nailed that sucker. Trailer Park Boys is a combustible combo, ready to explode into uproarious laughter at any moment: its main ingredients are ex-con scammers, trailer park environs, rum and cokes, and weed. (The latter two may be very popular with a large segment of viewers, too.) The documentary style series was a hit in Canada first, and Netflix gave it new life in 2014. It’s a smash in America now. And guest stars galore — look for Snoop Dogg on the new season.
But if you can’t get enough of the series now showing on Netflix, there is more. Try one of the three movies Clattenburg made about his trailer park crew.
- The Big Dirty (2006) — what started it all
- Countdown to Liquor Day (2009)
