Former police officer Robert Fischer drove six hours across the Arizona desert to visit his grandkids, his stepdaughter Belinda, and her husband Lee Radder. They had dinner out and then came back to the house. Lee poured a glass of wine for Belinda, and a vodka for Rob. They kept drinking and drinking. At about 5 in the morning, Rob called 911. He said his son-in-law had shot himself.
That was in 2010. In 2013, a jury in Arizona convicted Fischer of second degree murder. According to WGRZ, Fischer had originally “told authorities that he had been asleep in another room when he heard the gunshot but blood splatter was found on his clothing, indicating that he was in the room at the time of the shooting. The gun, a .38 handgun, belonged to Fischer. But two months after that verdict a judge dismissed the case due to lack of evidence. Fischer was free to go. The Radder family is appealing. The murder, or suicide, of Lee Radder will be featured on Dateline NBC on May 22 at 9pm.
