People magazine reports that actor Johnny Depp and Amber Herd have gotten married, in their home in Los Angeles on Tuesday. But a bigger wedding is still in the works on Depp’s private island – Little Hall’s Pond Cay in the Bahamas. Depp bought the 45-acre isle in 2004 for $3.6 million. It is near the getaway homes of Eddie Murphy and David Copperfield.
Depp told Vanity Fair in 2009, “I don’t think I’d ever seen any place so pure and beautiful. You can feel your pulse rate drop about 20 beats. It’s instant freedom.” One year later, Depp met Heard on the set of the 2011 film The Rum Diary.
