Jaq Mackenzie auditioned for American Idol in San Francisco. Harry Connick Jr. wasn’t convinced she was ready – she’s not yet 16 years old – but Keith Urban and Jennifer Lopez wanted to hear her compete with the others. In Hollywood, she sang “Cool Kids” by Echo Smith.
Before singing, she shared a quick story about how her great grandmother and great aunt used to perform vaudeville there in the legendary Orpheum Theatre. Jaq has the musical gene and a theatrical presence, but does she have the maturity to go further on American Idol? American Idol airs Wednesdays and Thursdays at 8pm on FOX.
