Star of The Real Housewives of New Jersey, Teresa Giudice, reported to prison today. Her lawyer, James J. Leonard Jr., drove her to the Federal Correctional Institution in Danbury, Connecticut, a minimum security prison camp which inspired the Netflix series Orange Is the New Black, based on Piper Kerman’s remarkable memoir. Giudice will serve her 15 months sentence in Danbury. She and her husband, Joe Giudice, were found guilty of mail, wire, and bank fraud.
Leonard said Teresa was told she should be “friendly but guarded” at the prison. Other celebrities who served time there include musician Lauryn Hill and the Queen of Mean, heiress Leona Helmsley (both for tax evasion).
