Actor-turned-director and big time Hollywood producer Jon Favreau won America’s heart in the film Rudy. He played the chubby kid next to his tall skinny friend Vince Vaughn. The duo went on to make Swingers and Made, and after that Favreau could do whatever he wanted. And he did. He played the Ultimate Fighter dating Monica (Courtney Cox) on the TV show Friends, he directed Will Ferrell in Elf, made the Iron Man films, The Avengers, and the comedy Chef with his superhero-playing friends Robert Downey Jr. and Scarlett Johansson.
Now Favreau is working on another elf project — this time for MTV. He’s producing Shannara, a fantasy TV series about “a young Healer armed with an unpredictable magic (which) guides a runaway Elf in her perilous quest to save the peoples of the Four Lands from an age-old Demon scourge.” The series is based on the New York Times bestseller Elfstones Of Shannara written by Terry Brooks. It was originally published in 1982, when Favreau was 16 years old.
