Talk about a tease. How do you make a trailer for a film that you haven’t even begun to shoot? Well, if you’re Quentin Tarantino, you call your buddy Robert Rodriguez and arrange for a special sneak peek of the as-yet-unmade and almost cancelled The Hateful Eight to be tagged on to cinema showings of his film Sin City: A Dame to Kill For. Rumor has it the trailer runs more than a minute and a half, which is a long time when you have no actual footage. Don’t expect too much of the trailer for “the 8th film from Quentin Tarantino” (really, is he the only one counting?) other than perhaps nifty soul music or a nod to Ennio Morricone (or perhaps not).
Tarantino’s ensemble western–about a group of strangers taking shelter during a blizzard in a plot that sounds like part Stagecoach, part Key Largo–boasts a cast including Tarantino regulars Michael Madsen, Kurt Russell, Samuel L. Jackson, Bruce Dern, and Tim Roth. Production begins in early 2015.
