While promoting his 2012 album “Born and Raised,” John Mayer wore a hand-woven bracelet made of colorful fabric. Whether being interviewed by Ellen DeGeneres or Jimmy Fallon, there it was, dancing as he gesticulated. (Mayer underwent vocal cord surgery before “Born and Raised” was released and took a leave from singing, so the talk show circuit was his best chance to support the record.)
Turns out the bracelet was made especially for Mayer by a quiet artisan named Barrett Alley of Dallas, Texas who has made a couple hundred more for Mr. Mayer’s fans. The bracelets ($60-$100) – and now a “Mr. JM” deerskin wallet ($190)– are available at the John Mayer Born and Raised Store. More expensive than a homemade Deadhead bracelet but bound to last longer.
