Maclaren owns the baby stroller market, and now it wants a piece of the upscale baby stroller market. This week the company announced “a new era of stylish mobility” with its new BMW buggy. On the sidewalk, it’s difficult to see the difference between the $385 BMW buggy and Maclaren’s most popular $130 Volo. That is, with the exception of the fancy BMW accessories: insulated pannier for snacks and drinks ($50), umbrella ($60), park blanket ($85), messenger/diaper bag ($185), and footmuff ($200).
Made of high performance aluminum, the BMW buggy weighs 12 lbs. (the Volo is 8 lbs.) and is available in sleek silver, blue and black. No word on how many seconds it takes to go 0 to 60 mph.
