The Uncle Buck TV series is based on the 1989 John Hughes film Uncle Buck starring the late great John Candy. As in the movie, Uncle Buck is an unreliable man-child who does his best to take care of his brother’s kids in the suburbs. In the TV show, Uncle Buck Russell is portrayed by Mike Epps.
Epps is known for his roles in the films Soul Men (Duane Henderson), The Hangover films, (Black Doug), The Honeymooners (Ed Norton), and as L.J. in the Resident Evil films, among others. He’s currently working on the biopic, Richard Pryor: Is It Something I Said? with Eddie Murphy and Kate Hudson. Uncle Buck airs Tuesdays at 9pm on ABC.
