As a publicist, writing is a large part of what I do on a daily basis. And knowing how to write well for different audiences has been an integral part of my success. For instance, on any given day, I can go from working with reporters via email to craft a story for clients, writing strategy documents and press releases to blog posts, social media content, feature stories and thank you notes. Being able to effortlessly navigate between the different types of content required to do this job helps to successfully generate the desired results.
Written communication, while often overlooked or undervalued, can also be used by anyone to build their personal or professional brand. It’s all about finding a lane that works for you. If anyone is wondering how they can improve their writing, a great and simple way to do that is by reading more. Reading has helped me learn about effective writing styles, how to write in a way that influences or changes behavior and so much more.
