In The Conners episode “The Separation of Church and Dan,” D.J. Conner (Michael Fishman) reveals to his wife Geena (Maya Lynne Robinson) that he hasn’t taken their daughter Mary (Jayden Rey) to church for two years. The fact that the Conners have never been a religious family makes Geena even more determined to get Mary to church, where they are greeted by the Group Leader portrayed by MC Gainey.
Mustache-wearing MC Gainey, the 70-year-old actor from Jackson, Mississippi, is known for his multiple roles on Outcast (Bob), Kingdom (Rick), The Mentalist (Pete), Justified (Bo Crowder), Happy Town (Sheriff Conroy), Lost (Tom Friendly), and in the films Django Unchained (Big John Brittle), Wild Hogs (Murdock), Con Air (Swamp Thing, SEE LINK ABOVE), Citizen Ruth (Harlan), and The Mighty Ducks (Lewis), among others. You can see him next on Bosch (Ryan Rodgers). Fun fact: Gainey is the voice of Captain of the Guard on Tangled: The Series. The Conners airs Tuesdays at 8 pm on ABC, right before The Kids Are Alright.
