Actor and comedian Lil Rel Howery recently played the brother of Jerrod Carmichael, Bobby, on the too-short-lived sitcom The Carmichael Show. Rel is back on TV with his own sitcom, Rel, which is based on the comedian’s real life. (IRL: Howery married Verina Zonise in 2008; they have two children, and divorced in 2016.) In the show, Rel is living on the West Side of Chicago trying to get his personal life back on track after his divorce. (His wife slept with his barber.) Rel gets moral support (sometimes) from his best friend Brittany (Jessica “Jess Hilarious” Moore), younger brother Nat (Jordan L. Jones), and his widowed father. Rel’s father is portrayed by stand-up comedian Sinbad who’s rocking a cool-looking red beard, btw.
Check out Sinbad in A Different World
The 6’5” comedian Sinbad (born David Adkins) is known for his roles on A Different World (Coach Walter Oakes), The Sinbad Show (David Bryan), and The Redd Foxx Show (Byron Lightfoot), where he made his acting debut in 1986. Sinbad is also recognized for his roles in the Schwarzenegger movie Jingle All the Way (Myron), Coneheads (Otto), and Kenan & Kel’s Good Burger (Mr. Wheat), among others. Rel airs Sundays at 8pm on FOX. (Note: Howery and Jerrod Carmichael are two of the executive producers of Rel.)
