The 12 individuals featured on the new survival show Castaways come from a variety of backgrounds. There’s 42-year-old Robbie Gibbons who weighs 390 lbs., skinny twentysomething country singer Kenzi Whittington, and 50-year-old former Army Green Beret Tim Burke, to name three. Tim has the great advantage of being a professional survival coach. But will his thoroughness get the best of him?

In the “Trigger Time” video below, Tim talks about and demonstrates what he calls Bathroom Security. When he walks into a public restroom, he sizes up the room — how many people are in the stalls, at the urinals, he even pretends to relieve himself at an urinal until the guy next to him goes first, so he’s not vulnerable. When he goes into a stall to do his business, Tim explains that he usually pulls out a knife while he sits down in case someone reaches under the stall or tries to get into the stall. He also always carries a firearm. He puts his gun inside his underwear so it doesn’t fall to the ground. Tim admits that while bathroom security might be funny to talk about it’s super serious. Tim currently works undercover to help rescue girls from sex-trafficking rings. Castaways airs Tuesdays at 10pm on ABC.
