In The Goldbergs episode “Girl Talk,” Beverly (Wendi McLendon-Covey) tries to help her son Barry (Troy Gentile) find a girlfriend at school. If that wasn’t enough comedy, Adam (Sean Giambrone) offers to make a TV commercial for his father Murray (Jeff Garlin) and the family furniture business. Adam wants Marvin (Dan Fogler) to be the spokesperson on the commercial — but things don’t pan out that way. Along the way, we meet Formica Mike.
Formica Mike is portrayed by Richard Kind. He’s known for his roles on I’m Dying Up Here (Marty), Gotham (Aubrey James), Scrubs (Mr. Korman), Spin City (Paul Lassiter), Mad About You (Dr. Mark Devanow), and The Commish (Alex Beebee), among many others. He also voices a lot of characters in Disney movies including Inside Out (Bin Bong) and A Bug’s Life (Molt). Fun fact about Kind: He was a cast member on Carol Burnett’s variety show Carol & Company in the early 1990s. The Goldbergs airs Wednesdays at 8pm on ABC.
