In the MasterChef episode “Holy Cannoli”, the home cooks are split up for a Team Challenge which involves using local ingredients and then serving the meal made of those ingredients to the people who brought them – local butchers, farmers, and beekeepers. The team that loses the challenge must make the Italian delicacy, cannoli, “as part of a pressure test.”
Luckily for Dino Angelo Luciano’s team, an Italian-American from Brooklyn (Bensonhurst), he knows his cannoli. Or as he says, “I didn’t have a pacifier growing up as a baby, I had a cannoli.” That’s cute, but can he make one as good as the cannoli he was raised on? MasterChef airs Wednesdays at 8pm on FOX.
