Guest stars — they’re the arrows in the quiver of any smart performer. In a time when Hollywood focus groups create strange casts trying to cook up a demographic stew that’ll have everybody in the seats — grandparents and hipsters alike — the best stuff still happens when performers who like each other take the stage. Performers with a shared sensibility and style and mutual respect. Think of what Sinatra and the Rat Pack did back in the day. And what today’s hip-hop music scene now takes to a whole new level: featuring other performers so prominently that every new drop from a great rapper seems a collaboration.
Witnessed comedic history tonight. @chrisrock & @DaveChappelle on the stage together.
Magic.

That’s what happened in New Orleans when legend Dave Chappelle joined legend Chris Rock on stage for an improv comedy duet act during Rock’s Total Blackout Tour. Seems everybody who witnessed the collab came away saying just what supermodel and biz wiz Tyra Banks said: “Magic.” And the sick thing? Jeff Ross and Eric Andre were there too. This is a must see tour, Chappelle or not.
