In the series premiere of Married to Medicine Houston, we meet the five female stars. All of them are doctors — with the exception of Rachel Suliburk (she’s married to a plastic surgeon) and, depending on who you ask, Elly Pourasef (she’s an audiologist). Monica Patel is a cardiologist, Erika Sato is a plastic surgeon, and Ashandra “Shan” Batiste is a dental surgeon. While Monica struggles to get her boyfriend to settle down with her, Shan is enjoying the hell out of her second marriage. She’s married to Richard Cumby, a medical device sales representative, who lights up the screen whenever he appears on the show.
In one scene Richard shows up at Shan’s office to play her “sex-o-tary.” In another, he’s sweeping his wife off her feet, literally. Shan knows she has it made with Richard. “This marriage feels like what marriage should be,” she says. Marriage to Medicine Houston airs Fridays at 9pm on Bravo.
