Olivia Rox is the 16-year-old singer/musician from Agoura Hills, California who’s auditioning on the 15th and final season of American Idol. In front of the celeb judges Jennifer Lopez, Keith Urban, and Harry Connick Jr, Rox sits at the piano and performs Bruno Mars’ “When I Was Your Man.” American Idol posted a clip from the audition, and Olivia Rox is quickly gaining fans and their votes. Jaclyn L. wrote “I got chills!” and Derrik Grella wrote: “Olivia is a Rox star! She has my vote…Definitely among the best for season 15!”
Rox is the daughter of Jazz saxophonist Warren Hill and former alternative rock singer Tamara Van Cleef. Hill wrote a song called “Tamara” on his 2009 album Truth. And yes, dad and daughter do perform together. They’ve shared a stage many times over the years. In September 2015, they performed the Foreigner song “I Want To Know What Love Is” at the DMC Festival in Seoul, Korea (see video below). American Idol airs Wednesdays and Thursdays at 8pm on FOX.
