In the Season 3 premiere of Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., while Agent Leo Fitz (Iain De Caestecker) goes to extremes to figure out how to get Agent Jemma Simmons (Elizabeth Henstridge) back, Director Phil Coulson (Clark Gregg) and his team discover a new Inhuman. The new villain’s name is Lash. Although he’s only seen in shadows, he is “a threat beyond belief.” Henstridge told Zap2it: “It’s [Lash] is going to be a huge spectacle.”
Lash is portrayed by Matthew Willig. He’s best known as a football player (defensive tackle) in the NFL. Willig played for six teams (New York Jets, Atlanta Falcons, Green Bay Packers, St. Louis Rams, San Francisco 49ers, and the Carolina Panthers). He went to the Super Bowl twice; he lost one (Panthers), and won once (Rams). Since 2006, Willig has been pursuing an acting career. He’s appeared on several TV shows including The West Wing, Everybody Hates Chris, and Dexter. TV-wise, he’s best known for his recurring roles on NCIS (Special Agent Simon Cade) and The Young and the Restless (Tank). Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. airs Tuesdays at 9pm on ABC.
