Model Robyn Lawley has been chosen as one of the 24 models to appear in Sports Illustrated’s legendary swimsuit edition. She is a size 12, which normally pegs her as a plus-size model, even though the average American woman in a size 14.
MJ Day, the assistant managing editor of Sports Illustrated, says Lawley will be featured in the edition as a model, just like the rest, rather than a “plus size” model. “To be totally honest, I am a size 12,” Day says. “I’m not saying I see myself in [Lawley] because my body doesn’t look as good as hers, but I knew that when I found the right person who could represent that, she would be in the issue.”
