The release of Nicki Minaj’s third album, The Pinkprint, has been pushed from November 24 to December 15. From the album she’s released the singles Anaconda, Pills N Potions and most recently Only, featuring Drake, Lil Wayne and Chris Brown. To appease her patient fans the rapper released a teaser in two parts, on Instagram. It’s a visual mashup of the videos she’s already put out set to the sound of crackling ice. It’s got mystery, that’s for sure. Kudos to director Khalil Kavon.
The Pinkprint title is a direct reference to Jay Z’s The Blueprint album which was released on September 11, 2001 but still managed to sell over 420,000 copies in its opening week. Vibe magazine, among others, rated The Blueprint as “Best Album of the Year.” But that was before Instagram and Twitter and Facebook. Minaj will beat Jay-Z’s sales record as long as she keeps feeding her fans as she does. On November 3, she promises to release the album cover of The Pinkprint.
