In The Simpsons episode “Much Apu About Something,” while Bart is tempted to return to his pranking ways, Sanjay turns over his share of Kwik-E-Mart to his son Jay. The young man has different ideas for the mart than his uncle Apu. Against Apu’s insistence, Jay turns the convenience store into a hip health-food market.
Jay is voiced by actor Utkarsh Ambudkar. The 32-year-old actor from Baltimore, Maryland is best known for his roles on the TV series The Mindy Project (Rishi Lahiri, Mindy’s brother), and in the movie Pitch Perfect (Donald). 2016 is going to be a big year for Ambudkar. He has roles in three movies including two with Ice Cube — Ride Along 2 and Barbershop: The Next Cut. Ambudkar also fancies himself a rapper (see video below). P.S. The third movie is a musical comedy with Donald Sutherland and Brie Larson (Room) called Basmati Blues. The Simpsons airs Sundays at 8pm on FOX.
