The Lifetime movie The Lost Wife of Robert Durst is a dramatization about the 1982 disappearance of Kathie Durst, first wife of New York real estate mogul Robert Durst. The real life Durst, now 74 years old, is currently in jail awaiting trial for the 2000 murder of his friend, journalist Susan Berman. (Berman facilitated Durst’s alibi after Kathie’s disappearance.) Durst’s trial is scheduled for April 2018. In The Lost Wife of Robert Durst, Kathie is portrayed by Katharine McPhee (Scorpion, Smash). Durst is portrayed by Daniel Gillies.
[“The Lost Wife” movie is based on the book A Deadly Secret: The Bizarre and Chilling Story of Robert Durst]
Daniel Gillies — the Canadian-born, Australian-raised actor who portrays Durst — is known for his role as Elijah Mikaelson on The Originals and The Vampire Diaries, and for his roles on SEAL Team (Nate Massey), Saving Hope (Dr. Joel Goran), and Street Legal (Tim O’Connor), and in the film Spider-Man 2 (John Jameson), among others. Fun fact: Gillies is married to actress Rachael Leigh Cook (Psych, Las Vegas). They have two children but still find time for date nights. See the cute couple below at a Coldplay concert. Fortunately for Cook, Gillies doesn’t bring his work (uxoricide) home with him. The Lost Wife of Robert Durst premieres on Lifetime on Saturday, November 4 at 8pm.
