Who Is Detective Pamela Rose, Andre’s Love Interest on ‘Empire’?

In the Empire episode “The Fool,” Lucious’ (Terrence Howard) memory secret is exposed. Cookie (Taraji P. Henson) tries to convince the board and press that he’s fine, with the help of family friend Eddie Barker (Forest Whitaker). Meanwhile, Andre’s (Trai Byers) feelings for Detective Pamela Rose intensify. Lucious isn’t the only one with a secret. Rose reveals information she’s uncovered regarding the explosion.

Detective Pamela Rose is portrayed by Teyonah Parris. She’s known for her roles on Survivor’s Remorse (Missy Vaughn, see below), Mad Men (Dawn Chambers), and in Spike Lee’s 2015 film Chi-Raq (Lysistrata) and Justin Simien’s 2014 film Dear White People (Colandrea “Coco” Conners), among others. Parris will appear next on the big screen in If Beale Street Could Talk with Regina King. The screenplay is based on the James Baldwin novel of the same title. King plays a pregnant woman in Harlem desperate to prove her fiance innocent of crime he did not commit. Empire airs Wednesdays at 8pm on FOX.

Tonight is the night that I say goodbye to ‘Missy Vaughn’. It has been an absolute pleasure telling this woman’s story. The relationship ‘Missy’ and ‘Reggie’ have isn’t found anywhere else in the media. This young, black, professional couple conspiring to take over the world- hand in hand- with no infidelity, disrespect, or BS. Only two people who want the best for each other. The love, the respect, desire to please, and their shared ambition is a necessary image- particularly for black folk- to see reflected on screen and I’m grateful to have been a part of filling that void. . The amount of e-mails, tweets, and posts that I’ve gotten from men and women sharing what Missy and Reggie have done for their relationship, teaching them how to disagree, communicate their needs, and ultimately be a team is innumerable. The emails from folk saying this couple has encouraged them to continue working on themselves and given them hope for a healthy, loving, peaceful, sex filled marriage always had me clappin’ and noddin’!! . Working with @DoubleRLee to share this couple’s story is an experience that will stay close to my heart forever. Thanks Reaco for being an amazing actor, leader, now Brother, and “TV husband”!! . Thanks @MavCarter & @kingjames for imagining this woman. Thank you @TheRealMikeOMalley for your billion and five words that ultimately shaped who this couple would be. Thanks STARZ for 4 seasons to tell this story. .
