This week President Donald J. Trump ordered 59 missiles to strike Syrian dictator Bashar al-Assad’s chemical weapons resources. One month before the 2012 US presidential election, on October 9, 2012, (with Mitt Ronmey, not Donald Trump, on the GOP ticket), Trump wrote: “Now that Obama’s poll numbers are in tailspin – watch for him to launch a strike in Libya or Iran. He is desperate.”
After Obama was re-elected in 2012, in September 2013, Trump tweeted telling President Obama: “Do not attack Syria. There is no upside and tremendous downside.” Some observers have noted that Trump’s poll numbers were sinking when he ordered the strike in Syria, and that he might benefit politically from the action.

President Obama, do not attack Syria. There is no upside and tremendous downside. Save your “powder” for another (and more important) day!
