After co-founding the Seattle VC firm Second Avenue Partners, Hanauer founded Civic Ventures, which he describes as “a small group of political troublemakers devoted to ideas, policies, and actions that catalyze significant social change.” He is the co-author of two books with Eric Liu, founder of Citizen University and former Deputy Assistant to President Clinton for Domestic Policy at the White House (see above).
