In the America’s Next Top Model episode ‘The Glamorous Life’, the remaining eight model contestants are invited to designer Philipp Plein’s swanky home in Manhattan. While wearing his dresses (none sell in stores for less than $10,000), the models work as live models at a party he’s throwing in his home for the fashion elite. The models are paired up and assigned rooms. After the guests meander from room to room, they will vote on who sold the dress the best. The winning model gets to go to Philipp Plein’s store on Madison Avenue and choose whatever she wants as a prize.
The German-born designer started out making vintage military jackets embroidered with Swarovski skulls. Plein opened his first shop in 2008 (in Monte Carlo). Now there are dozens of Philipp Plein boutiques around the world (Vienna, Moscow, Seoul, Berlin, New York). In 2010, Mischa Barton was the face of his fall/winter season. At his 2014 Fashion Week show, Rita Ora and Naomi Campbell modeled his collection. America’s Next Top Model airs Mondays at 10pm on MTV.
