The classically trained Cumberbatch, who became a household name as Sherlock Holmes, took the stage with David Gilmour and a lot of smoke and lights to sing one of the most rock-karaoke’d tunes in history.

It was Johnny Rotten, wasn’t it, who wore that “I hate Pink Floyd” t-shirt? Not sure what made us think of that… Then again Rotten/Lydon later said he didn’t mean it, and almost performed with Floyd himself (“the idea thrilled me,” he said). Maybe that’s what Cumberbatch was after, Johnny Rotten’s thrill. Seems punk anyway, no?
