In the Nashville episode “It’s Sure Gonna Hurt,” while Gunnar (Sam Palladio) gets to perform on stage with his idol Sir Elton John, and Luke (Will Chase) appears on The View, Scarlett is the subject of a photo shoot. Twirling around in a sweet fairy-like corset dress, while the Annie Leibovitz-like photographer snaps away, Scarlett gets emotional. (Kudos to ABC photographer Mark Levine for the photo below.)
The photographer on TV is portrayed by actress Brooke Smith. She’s known for her roles on Ray Donovan (Frances), Grey’s Anatomy (Dr. Erica Hahn), Weeds (Valerie Scottson), and Crossing Jordan (Dr. Kate Switzer), among others. Smith is also recognized for her roles in the films Interstellar (Nurse), Labor Day (Evelyn), and The Silence of the Lambs (Catherine Martin, the girl who sings Tom Petty in her car before being kidnapped). Nashville airs Wednesdays at 10pm on NBC.
