In the Lifetime TV movie Wish Upon a Christmas, tough business executive Amelia (Larisa Oleynik) is sent to her hometown for business. One of her company’s companies is failing. It’s up to Amelia to save the family-run ornament business. Her first plan of action is lay people off, but then she finds herself face-to-face with the owner, Jesse (Aaron Ashmore), her old high school boyfriend. When Amelia calls her father to give him an update, he’s surprised to hear the softer side of Amelia describe the company as “something special.”

Amelia’s father is portrayed by Alan Thicke. As an actor he’s best known for his roles on Growing Pains (Dr. Jason Seaver), Hope & Gloria (Dennis Dupree), The Bold and the Beautiful (Rich Ginger), and How I Met Your Mother (as himself). As a composer in the TV biz, Thicke is best known for the theme songs for The Facts of Life, Diff’rent Strokes, and Wheel of Fortune. He also had his own TV shows in the 1980s — Thicke of the Night and The Alan Thicke Show. In 2014 he tried it again with Unusually Thicke. He is the father of Blurred Lines singer Robin Thicke. Wish Upon a Christmas will premiere on Lifetime on December 13 at 9pm.
