Pop diva Britney Spears posts a lot of photos on social media. The video of her dancing to Adele’s “Hello” went viral, as many of her posts do. (She has more than 43 million followers.) Earlier this week she took a photo of herself reading in bed. Holding the cover for everyone to see, the caption read: “yeah I know I’ve got a big forehead… but it was a really great book.”
The book is Plastic Tulips in the Winter by Denice Vickers. The protagonist of the coming-of-age book is Denice, a proud tomboy born in the Deep South in 1950. Her father is a con man who runs a whorehouse and molests one of his children. Denice ends up marrying at 16. Without giving away the end, there is a light at the end of the story. The writer Denice Vickers is the wife of Steve Vickers, founder and president of Harvest Churches International. Together they run Christian Life Church in Montgomery, Alabama.
