When Maksim Chmerkovskiy planned his very public proposal to fellow dancing star Peta Murgatroyd, he must have hoped for the best. But even Maks could not have quite anticipated the sheer joy on his fiancee’s face. Maks must have loved the picture as much as everyone watching — he posted it on Instagram, writing simply: She said ‘yes’. But it was more than what she said that captivated. Peta had that stunned, magical reaction any would-be-betrother longs deep-down to see. Her long elegant hands placed together in front of her face as if in prayer, Peta smiles down at Maks. She’s caught in the moment — a perfect combination of smile and tears that befits the occasion. Peta seems truly surprised, as she later said she was.
The two dancers are both Dancing With the Stars alum. The proposal took place on Maks’s own Miami-based dance show, Sway. This is going to be a big lavish dramatic wedding, if the proposal is any guide. That first dance is sure to be a doozy.
