The rock band Train is recording a Christmas album tentatively titled Christmas in Tahoe. It’s the first Christmas album for the 21-year-old band from San Francisco. Frontman Pat Monahan says it won’t be like other Christmas albums. For starters, it will include three original songs. And Train has chosen to cover “alternative” Christmas songs like The Band’s 1975 song “Christmas Must Be Tonight” (see below). That said, Monahan contends he is “not religious at all.”
On September 10, Train will perform at the NFL Kickoff party at the New England Patriots’ stadium in Foxborough. Many Foxborough residents (believers and nonbelievers alike) would prefer a wintry Christmas in Tahoe to a bitter cold one in Massachusetts. As long as they don’t have to miss any home playoff games, of course.
