Jonathan Strange & Mr. Norrell is a new miniseries on BBC America. Based on Susanna Clarke’s 2004 bestseller, it’s about two rival magicians in early 19th century England. When the reclusive Mr. Norrell (Eddie Marsan) reveals his magic powers, he becomes a celebrity overnight. The dashing and daring Jonathan Strange becomes his student. But Strange pushes the envelope a bit too far for Norrell’s liking.
