FBI secretary Martha on the FX drama The Americans has gone from being “one of the saddest characters on the show” to becoming a real live firecracker. Even the actress who portrays Martha, Alison Wright, didn’t believe she’d develop into such a long-lived, interesting character. “I had a feeling she might be in more than the pilot, but that was all. I really didn’t know if she’d go any further than that,” Wright told The TV Junkies. “Everyone thought she was going to be dead by the end of the first season. Everybody did. She’s still going strong. She provides a nice balance now,” Wright added.
The 38-year-old British actress is best known for her role as Bridget in the 2007 film The Nanny Diaries with Scarlett Johansson. Get ready to see more of Wright. She’s working on another film called Good Ol’ Boy with Jason Lee (My Name Is Earl).
