Actress Helen Mirren (The Queen) was caught riding a New York City subway this week. A photo taken by straphanger Jason Lowe shows Mirren sitting properly with perfect posture, next to a stranger….just like us!
In the photo she’s looking away, either to deter Mr. Lowe from getting a better photo, or she’s looking, waiting for Jay-Z to jump onto the R train. Two years ago, Jay-Z famously took the subway to his performances at the then new Barclays Arena in Brooklyn. He sat next to and chatted with a New Yorker, artist Ellen Grossman. Jay-Z laughed when she admitted not knowing who he was. She said she was proud of him for taking the train.
