Actor Christian Slater (True Romance, Heathers) will star in the new USA Network television series Mr. Robot. The protagonist is a brilliant cyber security engineer, Elliot (Rami Malek of 24) who suffers from “an antisocial disorder and can only connect to people by hacking them.” Slater will play Mr. Robot, a mysterious anarchist who recruits Elliot to bring down corporate America via an underground hacker organization.
This isn’t Slater’s first hacker TV series. He played Oz, a former thief and counterfeiter who ran a security company in Breaking In. With a team “legitimate” thieves, Oz broke into high tech security systems on behalf of his clients in an attempt to find any flaws in their systems. The show aired on FOX, April 2o11 to April 2012.
