On the MasterChef Junior episode “Hatching a Plan; Tag Team Time,” in the first half of the two-hour special, the cooks work in pairs to make the most (not the best) deviled eggs in 12 minutes. Then they’re challenged to make their signature dishes from their future cookbooks. In the second half, chef Christina Tosi brings her mother Greta Tosi-Miller on the show as a mystery-box challenge involves Christina’s favorite foods from when she was a little girl.
Tosi is the chef, founder and owner of Milk Bar, the sister bakery to the Momofuku restaurant group, with multiple locations in New York City, one in Toronto, and the latest in Washington, DC. Tosi wasn’t born to cook or bake. She studied electrical engineering at the University of Virginia first. She has written two books including her latest, Milk Bar Life: Recipes & Stories. MasterChef Junior airs Fridays at 8pm on FOX.
