House Speaker Kevin McCarthy is taking more jabs at President Biden, putting aside his focus on the debt limit gamesmanship to taunt the White House about immigration policy — amidst the bright lights being shined on the border with the expiration of COVID-era Title 42.
As he did to augment his position in the debt ceiling negotiations, McCarthy has pushed through a bill — this time on immigration — which Republicans characterize as “the strongest border security bill ever.”
McCarthy, seeking to portray Biden as someone who keeps missing opportunities and deadlines, writes in a tweet addressed to the President: “Do not miss another deadline, like you just missed on Title 42. Our country cannot afford it.”

[For the record, the expiration of Title 42 did not take the Biden administration by surprise. Biden has conceded about the border after the expiration: “It’s going to be chaotic for a while.”]
McCarthy claims, presenting the bill, that “Republicans will always act responsibly and will always look for solutions.” Many in the comments expressed their belief that this isn’t so, since Title 42 expired on McCarthy’s watch too.
Speaker McCarthy why did house Republicans just sit on their hands for over one hundred days and let title 42 expire?

Those on the right also expressed frustration with McCarthy’s GOP, with the preponderance of comments citing inaction rather than the action the congressmen claimed.

Here’s McCarthy again, in a longer video, where he again asserts that the White House “missed the deadline” on Title 42.
