Moby is the 54-year-old musician who is perhaps known for his fifth album, Play (1999), which is his highest selling album with 12 million copies sold. It includes the hit song “South Side” with former No Doubt lead singer Gwen Stefani. Moby is also known as a vegan and an animal rights advocate.
When not in the studio or at his vegan restaurant Little Pine in Los Angeles, Moby recently has been spending time getting tattoos.
Last year he had “VEGAN FOR LIFE” printed in ink on his neck and in November had ANIMAL RIGHTS tattooed on his arms (one word on each arm). He also has a thin VX tattooed next to his right eye. Moby explained: the “V is for vegan, X is for straight edge.”
Earlier this week, Moby took off his eyeglasses and revealed a new tattoo near his right eye (see above). A series of lower case letters — l, r, s, c — create an arc over the top of a cross. (One fan reports that the letters stand for: love respect service compassion.)
While most fans love the new ink, one wrote that “it looks like a snowflake landed on your face”, another wrote: “Ok Vegan Malone.”
Above is a photo of his first tattoo (the cross), on the back of his neck. He added “Thou Shall Not Kill” some 24 years later. Moby credits celebrity tattoo artist Kat Von D for the ink work.
Moby announced that all proceeds from his upcoming 16th album All Visible Objects (to be released March 6, 2020) will be donated to charities and organizations dedicated to a more sustainable future.
